User survey
I surveyed 10 people who take medications regularly to uncover challenges with consistency, asking about forgotten doses, reminder methods, and support from others.
90% of participants have skipped at least one dose of their medication
50% of participants use phone reminders to take their medication
80% of participants feel stressed about taking their prescriptions on time
60% of participants don’t have anyone to remind them to take their medications
User Interviews
3 user interviews were conducted via ZOOM to learn about the struggles, habits, and pain points users face when trying to take their medications on time.
Key questions I asked my interviewees:
How do you keep track of the medications you take?
What happens if you forget a dose or take your medication at the wrong time?
What challenges do you face when using your method to remember when to take your medications?
How do you think these challenges can be resolved?
“ I feel side effects if I don’t take my meds on time, there was this one time I skipped a dose and I ended up passing out and a crowd gathered around me”
-interviewee 1
“I get stressed out when I get prescriptions, and I tend to be inconsistent with taking them on time because I forget and I live alone, so there is no one to remind me”
-interviewee 2
“If I skip a dose, then oh well, I’ll take the next one, the times I take my meds each day vary because I remember them randomly, I’m not the best at keeping track”
-interviewee 3

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Sandra is a full-time working mother who needs timely medication reminders because her busy schedule and lack of family support make it difficult for her to stay consistent, and she doesn’t want to miss any doses.
GOAL STATEMENT
Our medication reminder app will let users set personalized times for their medication reminders, which will benefit students, full-time workers, and the elderly by giving them the flexibility to receive timely notifications for their doses. Users can also customize the frequency and tone of their reminders and opt for text message notifications. We will measure effectiveness by tracking the frequency of recorded doses taken by users.
